Assistant Referee

The Wilmette Wings provide two assistant referees (linesmen) for all Wings home games of U12 and older boys and girls. The Assistant Referees (ARs) are players from various Wings teams or “graduated” Wings players. They are trained and certified by the Illinois State Referee Committee. The Wings AR coordinators oversee the training and scheduling of the linesmen for the spring and fall seasons. An AR will be scheduled by the coordinators for approximately 3-4 games per season. ARs earn $22 a game for U12 teams, and $25 for U13 and U14 games.

If you are a U12 or older Wings player and are interested in becoming a linesmen next season, contact Sue Van Horn at (847) 251-5265 or email at suevanhorn@msn.com   The Illinois Youth Soccer Association (http://www.iysa.org) maintains a web site with information on training clinics that all linesmen must take to become certified. Please contact your Wings coordinators listed above before signing up for a linesmen clinic. The IYSA regulate Linesmen on a calendar year, clinics must be taken each winter to certify the linesmen for the spring and fall season.
