U13/U14 Boys & Girls Program Overview

The U13/U14 Program looks to push players both technically and tactically to prepare them for High School.  Players will continue to polish their technical skills while being increasingly put under pressure of time, space and an opponent.  Tactically players will begin to focus on the principles of offence and defense and how they relate to the four phases of the game: Attacking, Defending, Transition to Attack and Transition to Defense. 

U13/U14 Overview

  • Teams will have a roster size of approximately 16 to 18 players
  • Teams will compete against other local clubs and throughout the chicagoland area
  • Boys teams will compete in the Young Sportsman Soccer League - YSSL
  • Girls teams will compete in the Illinios Women's Soccer League - IWSL
  • Outdoor practices and games will be held at Avoca Park, Community Playfields (or similar Wilmette location)
  • Players will receive individualed progress reports
  • Goalkeeper Specific Training will be offered

Fall Season - Mid-August through Mid-November

  • Two mandatory 90 minute training sessions per week
  • 10 Fall League games
  • Participation in one local tournament - previous tournaments include:
    • Palatine Celtics Cup (Labor Day Weekend)
    • Grove United Shootout (Labor Weekend)
    • Sockers Nike Classic Cup (10/7 - 10/9)
    • GLSA Octoberfest (10/7 - 10/9)
    • Great Lakes Soccer Challenge (9/17 - 9/19)
    • Adidas Cup - Rockford (Labor Day Weekend)

Winter Season - January through Mid-March

  • One mandatory 60 minute training session per week
  • Practices will be held at various local gyms and indoor facilities
  • 9 to 12 Winter Indoor League Games.  Typically one game per week on the weekends
  • Previous Indoor League participation includes:
    • Palantine Soccer City
    • Highland Park Field House
    • YMCA Lattof Des Plaines

Spring Season - April through Mid-June

  • Two mandatory 90 minute training sessions per week
  • 8 Spring League games
  • Participation in one local tournament - previous participation includes:
    • Park Ridge Memorial Day Tournament (Memorial Day Weekend)
    • Libertyville Cup (Memorial Day Weekend)
    • Hawks Cup (5/11 - 5/13)
    • Sockers Nike Classic Cup
    • Eclipse Spring Classic
