Coach's Game Recaps

Game 6

We played a really great game on Saturday and got a tremendous boost from Mac in the goal.  Everyone was really focused going into the match and we played very sharp.  We got an amazing individual effort from William scoring four goals with precision finishing.  Williams’ first touch was brilliant on Saturday.

I thought the physical play was much better overall.  We did not get pushed off the ball and the tackling on was efficient.  We will continue to work on this area of the game and will be a focus at practice this week.

I really liked the defenders willingness to pick their spots and get into the attack.  We talked in the pre-game about being more aggressive from the back and I thought Big Jack did a really nice job organizing and defending.  All the defenders played very strong.  We have to remember to cover our teammates if a defender pushes up into the attack.

We need to be more dangerous from the wings sending more crosses into the box and we will continue to work on that element of the game this week in practice.

Great job overall and congrats on a great team victory.

GAME 5

This was a grind it out game with the weather causing the game to be very sloppy.  I thought the boys played very well and hard.  We went down 1 early and than came right back with a great goal from Carson to tie it at one.  I think this goal is going to spark Carson to be a consistent finisher in the second half of the season.

I thought that we lost the physicality battle in this game with our opponent being stronger on the ball.  We will focus on being stronger on the ball this week in practice and using our body to shield the ball.

We got a bit exposed defensively in the second half because we were trying to push up to tie the game back up after going down.

One positive was seeing Ben attacking from the defensive position, even getting a great goal in the process.  We need our outside backs to have a greater sense of attack, picking their spots when the opportunity presents itself.
