The boys got off to a very strong start against the Magic on Saturday. We played one of our best halves to start the game. We got a nice composed finish from Nico to grab the lead. Than Thomas began to take over scoring an absolutely brilliant header goal off a nice corner service from Aidan and than getting another goal with a blast from the top of the box.
The second half left a lot to be desired. I felt like we took our foot off the gas and coasted through the second half. Our defending was not at the level it needs to be and our possession passing was not as sharp as the first half.
We were lucky to have a comfortable lead so the game was never really in question, but against a better team we will not have the luxury of competing for only a half.
We need to focus on putting together 60 minute efforts going forward.
Overall, a great win and a positive step forward.
We had a great game on Saturday, but didn’t get the result we were hoping for, but nonetheless should be very proud of our effort. We came out with the right attitude and focus and were robbed of good goal that should’ve put us up 1 to zero. The boys know that the calls are not always going to go our way and they even out over the course of a game and season.
We had a bit of defensive breakdown on set pieces this game, which will be point of emphasis during practice this week. We need our wall to be set up quicker and closer to the ball. Our goalie needs to communicate better with the wall to make sure they have the near post covered.
We had our chances in the second half, with Nico making a strong move into the box and drawing a penalty.
We unfortunately didn’t finish like we usually do and let this team off the hook. Next time we will put it all together. I’m very impressed with the growth of the team over the past few weeks. We have shown a tremendous amount of heart and character!
