Coach's Game Recaps

Who Were Those Guys!

Was that the Wings U-11 Boys Blue Team playing like Barcelona on Saturday? Was that not the best soccer you have ever played... in your life? I hope everyone of you is proud of your play against Evanston. They beat us like a drum indoors' but Saturday they didn't have an answer to our pressure, passing, skills and shots on goal. The end was 0-0 but had we not fed the keeper, it should have been 6 or 7 for us.  Everyone played like a champion and kept going even when battered and tired.  Play every game like this, practice every practice like this and the results will take care of themselves. MVP to the team! HooRah!

Playing Soccer

Remember the indoor season and how the Chicago Elite just pounded us with their passing? This time the pounding was done by you guys. I think this was the best SOCCER game you have EVER played in the 2 years I have coached with most of you. Let me say that again...The best SOCCER you have ever played. This was a total team effort for the entire duration of the game and the score showed it with a 4-2 win. The score could have been much higher for us but we had some shots that had no power and lots just went to the keeper.

Defense was great as we pressured them when ever they had the ball, and so often took it away. When we pressure with Fast Slow Sideways Low, the other team doesn't have the chance to move quuickly into out half and shoot freely. Kudos to those that played up top and ran to the ball, forcing them to jusk kick it away - often out of touch.  Keepers played well and the restarts were much better with placing the ball out to the edges rather than just down the field.

Picture perfect goal was the cross from the right to a perfect header into the net. REMEMBER: This is what is expected - and you can do it - to play soccer. The whole team is the MVP this week.
