Read about the fall season and get prepped for the winter season!

Dear Wilmette Wings players and families,

I am excited to share the following highlights from our fall season and expectations for our winter program.

Fall Season
Our Boys and Girls Directors, Kevin Gray and Adam Levy, and our coaching staff led our teams to significant success during the fall 2018 season. Last Spring theclub had four teams win their divisions and were promoted to higher divisions this fall. All of these teams succeeded by raising their level of play to finish in competitive positions in their new divisions.  Also, this fall, seven teams won their divisions.  Great job players, coaches, and managers!  Here are some notable finishes for Wings teams in league play.

YSSL/IWSL 1stPlace – 2011 Red Boys, 2008 Red Girls, 2007 Premier Girls

YSSL/IWSL 2ndPlace – 2010 Blue Boys, 2008 Red Boys, 2007 Red Girls, 2001 Premier Girls

Glen Ellyn Lakers Fall Classic Tournament Champions – 2006 Premier Girls

Glen Ellyn Lakers Fall Classic Tournament Finalists – 2009 Red Boys & 2008 Red girls

Club wide it is great to see the teams develop during the fall campaign, and we will continuethat development and success in the winter season.

Off the pitch, we hosted numerous club wide events such as:  Kick Off Classic for our 2011, 2010 and 2009 teams, Family Fun Night, Wings Night at the New Trier Boys Varsity Soccer Game (ten former Wings played), The Chicago Fire Night, Crosstown Classic and Northwestern Women’s Night. Though weather did not always cooperate, all of the events were enthusiasticallyattended.

Winter Season Updates and Expectations

The winter season officially kicks off Monday January 7thwith all practices held at the Athletico Center in Northbrook.  Teams will play weekend “league” games at either the Athletico Center or the Quad Indoor Sports Center in Evanston.  The game schedule will be posted soon and most teams will have “league” games beginning in December.   The winter season will wrap up in mid-March.

For those looking to do some extra training in November and December there is still time to sign up for Winter clinics.  All clinic information and registration is available on the Wings website.

It’s always nice to take a short break but we are looking forward to getting back out full time in January to continue developing and striving for excellence.

Go Wings!
