Dear Wilmette Wings Parents –
It’s the start of a new year and we’re really excited to kick things off in 2019. As we get things going this week I wanted to highlight some of our goals this winter season.
Although we move indoors we are hoping to continue building upon the skills and development we’ve been working towards all year. The winter season is an opportunity to add different dynamics to our training sessions and games. Playing indoors forces our players to raise the level of ball control in both practices and games. With smaller spaces and indoor turf, the game really speeds up. Our focus on ball mastery throughout the winter is our number one objective. We want our players to feel comfortable on the ball.
All our training sessions will focus on getting the kids to get as many touches as possible in our practices. Our hope is that in our games and scrimmages we will begin to see the boys and girls have more time on the ball to make the best decisions possible. Many times, it’s the effort given in the Winter seasons that really tie things together for teams in the Spring so they can finish out the year playing their best.
Can’t wait to see the kids in action over the next few months.
